Message from the SAGCC to the South African Biathle and Triathle participants in the World Championship in Batumi, Georgia:
“The SAGCC wishes the group of 110 South Africans traveling to Batumi for the World Championship in Biathle and Triathle well. This forms part of the Modern Pentahlon series. The group consists of 61 athletes, the rest being officials and supporters. This is the 17th World Championship event and the first time it is being held in Georgia. The Triathle event (shooting, swimming, running) takes place on Saturday 19 September. The Biathle event (running, swimming, running) takes place on Sunday 20 September. Bob Gelder is the oldest SA athlete to compete at the age 74 years and is also one of only three athletes to have competed at all 17 World Championship events. The others are two British female athletes. Our special thanks and appreciation to Turkish Airlines for their great support with the travel and logistical arrangements. Good luck”
